Scope
The Journal of Infectious Diseases (JID) publishes translational infectious disease research that bridges bench and bedside, focusing on patient- and disease-centered studies with a laboratory component. It provides a platform for mechanistic and translational investigations, offering context for clinical and experimental scientists as well as clinician readers. JID considers research across microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), microbiome, and related disciplines addressing the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases; the microbes that cause them; and disorders of host immune responses. Submissions may include laboratory, clinical, public health, or epidemiologic studies. Article types include Major Articles, Brief Reports, Perspectives, Reviews, Correspondence, and Viewpoints. All manuscripts undergo peer review, except Correspondence and Viewpoints, which are reviewed by the Editors. JID is sponsored by the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
