Scope
Artificial Organs publishes original and innovative research articles focused on transdisciplinary convergence research, development, innovation, clinical translation, and application of artificial organs. The journal defines 'artificial organ' as a synthetic device or a tissue that integrates into and interfaces with a living organism to replace, recover, regenerate, and enhance its structure and/or function. Artificial Organs, therefore, encompasses full spectrum of organ replacement, recovery, and regeneration for ALL genders and generations. The ever-evolving scope of the journal currently includes but is not limited to the following:
Cardiac
• Mechanical circulatory support and replacement
• Extracorporeal life support
• Cardiac transplantation and donor heart preservation systems
• Cardiac implantable electrical devices
• Engineering of cardiovascular devices
• Cardiovascular tissue engineering and regeneration
Pulmonary
• Intra/extracorporeal CO2 removal and oxygenation
• Lung transplantation and donor lung preservation systems
• Pulmonary tissue engineering and regeneration
• Airway replacement and regeneration
Placenta
• Extracorporeal support of extreme prematurity
Renal
• Renal replacement therapy
• Kidney transplantation and donor kidney preservation systems
• Renal tissue engineering and regeneration
• Therapeutic apheresis
Liver
• Liver replacement therapies
• Liver transplantation
• Liver tissue engineering and regeneration
Pancreas
• Insulin replacement systems
• Pancreas transplantation
• Pancreatic tissue engineering and regeneration
Blood
