Scope
CRT publishes on all aspects of research on mechanisms of toxicity and related phenomena, with an overall goal of advancing the understanding of the impact of chemical and biological agents on human health. It emphasizes mechanisms of toxicity and encourages rigorous chemical standards and application of modern techniques of chemical analysis. Publishes papers devoted to: 1. Studies on the molecular mechanisms by which toxic agents (chemical, physical, and biological) interact with living systems. “Toxic agent” is broadly defined as any entity that causes cellular damage, either directly or after metabolism; agents may be endogenous or exogenous to the organism, and all agents must be characterized. “Interactions” are broadly defined to include metabolism, chemical alteration of cellular constituents, adduct formation with cellular constituents, and specific or nonspecific interactions with cellular receptors or enzymes, leading to activation or inactivation. 2. Studies on the molecular mechanisms of cellular responses to toxic agents.
3. Studies on the identification of toxic agents. EX. environmental contaminants, industrial chemicals, drugs and drug-like molecules, etc 4. Studies of the influence/role of toxic agents on the molecular pathogenesis of disease.
