Scope
Burns Open is an open access, peer reviewed international journal that aims to foster exchange of information in burn care among practitioners and others interested in the field. The journal publishes articles related to the incidence and epidemiology of burns, Burn disasters, investigation of underlying pathophysiology of injury, treatment of burn wounds and other skin conditions including rehabilitation and reconstruction, and outcomes of burn management. There will also be a focus on research related to nursing, occupational and physical therapy, aftercare/reintegration and prevention. Clinical and bench studies, ideas and innovations, and description of techniques and case reports and series are all welcomed and encouraged. Topics covered by Burns Open include: description of the incidence and impact of burns on societies; analysis of the causes of disasters (especially with descriptions of "lessons learned" for future prevention efforts); scientific and clinical effects of smoke and cutaneous injury; description of surgical, medical, and rehabilitation techniques which are, or may be relevant to the treatment of burned patients following injury; and effects of treatments on outcomes, healing and scarring, and re-socialization.
