Scope
Drug and Alcohol Dependence Reports is an Open Access companion journal to Drug and Alcohol Dependence, which offers an alternative home for high quality, methodologically sound addiction science.
DAD Reports is a journal dedicated to the dissemination of original research, scholarly reviews, commentaries, and policy analyses in the field of drug, alcohol and tobacco use, misuse and dependence. The journal maintains the expansive coverage of all areas of research related to the study of drug dependence as is published in its parent journal. These include studies of the cellular and molecular actions, chemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience, epidemiology, sociology, economics, and behavioral manifestations of psychoactive substances, inclusive of studies on intervention and prevention. This broad coverage of the addictions' field provides researchers with an in-depth over encompassing knowledge base that can help inform individual research paths with the goal of improving science. Facilitating momentum in moving addiction science from the laboratory to the clinic is an important aim of its editorial team.
While relevance to addiction science and a methodologically sound approach are prerequisite for publication, research that may be nuanced, or narrower in focus (i.e., specific populations, novel drugs) are of interest, as well as reports that may be considered preliminary, exploratory, novel or pilot. Thought-provoking or intriguing short communications and letters to the editors are evaluated.
